Our Technology

Indot technology is based on electro-optical interaction between a reader and coded label. Its innovation lies in powerfully combining proprietary algorithms, miniaturization, and advanced electro-optical capabilities to enable mass volume integration of an interactive infrastructure, at low cost. The patented Indot technology platform allows the multi-dimensional optical coding and decoding of "labels" that are printed on any type of printable media. The decoding is handled by an optical reading device, or "head," made of plastic or fabric (in the image of any character or entity). The no-fault identification-decoding-reading process takes place transparently to the user, and almost instantly from when the user places the reader down on the label.

Operating principle

The Indot technology platform operates according to a standard procedure, with variation depending on application scope:

  • Identifies the label: The optical reader identifies the label by means of an array of sensors, determining given the label's general and specific location
  • Reads the label: The optical reader then reads, from its internal memory, the audio associated with the label
  • Plays the audible content: The content can be pre-recorded at the factory or by the end-user, or downloaded directly into the optical reader from an Internet Web site via a USB connector
Delivering Indot technology to a product involves creating the reader device and corresponding labels, and generating the desired content for the specific application.
Indot labels

The labels are created on any type of printable media, typically paper, using standard ink and a standard printing process. The labels can be of any shape or color, requiring simply a diameter as little as 8mm (1/3 inches). During the printing process, the labels are encoded with a unique code. The coded labels are then preprinted on or adhered to the target surface.

Content

Once the In-Dot labels are in place, dedicated multimedia content is created for them and stored in the Reader. Content is pre-delivered or added to the Reader in several ways, depending on the product/application:

  • At the factory.
  • Pre-recorded by the user.
  • Content downloaded from a Web site.

Indot reader device

The reader device incorporates advanced electro-optical technology, programming, and components miniaturization. Each reader, which requires a minimal inner space for the necessary hardware, contains a speaker, optical sensors, and a memory chip of application-appropriate capacity. Optional features, depending on the scope of the application, include a microphone, speaker, scroll button, on/off switch, USB connection, and cartridge port for new content. Each reader operates on standard batteries, is lightweight, and conforms to international and industry standards for safety and robustness for toy devices.
A single reader can be used for multiple books, games, etc.
